Submersion #7

Description of Art: Ink drawing on paper.  Numbered and inscribed in ink.  In 1881, Toulouse-Lautrec was visiting his uncle, Amedee Tapie de Celeyran, who owned a large wine estate.  During this period, the estate suffered from an attach of Phylloxera, an insect which was notorious for ravaging wine vines through the second half of the nineteenth century.  In order to counteract the attack, the whole root of the wine wine needed to be submerged, which was a costly and time consuming process.
