Wild Thoughts

Description of Art: Wild Thoughts is a vibrant, layered urban tableau by Michiel Folkers, in which the boundary between city wall and canvas dissolves into a dynamic collage of visual fragments. Folkers builds his composition from torn street posters, musical paper scraps, and graffiti remnants, layering them with acrylic paint and spray pigments to evoke the palimpsest nature of modern city streets.

Amidst this rich background, bold black contours sketch playful shapes—a stylized face, looping hair, a beaklike curve—that seem to hover over the beneath-layered textures, as if memories or stray thoughts walking across a wall. Color bursts—sky blues, lemon yellows, cream tones—interact with distressed reds and scarlet forms, creating tension and balance within the abstraction. The surface is finished with glossy lacquer, giving it both depth and an element of preservation, as though the chaotic energy of the street is curated into permanence.

The work resonates with street-art sensibility, picturing the city itself as a living canvas. Wild Thoughts is not a static image, but a visual echo of noise, memory, and movement—an urban dreamscape where every tear, every scrape, and every color fragment tells a story of the street.
