Marina Picasso is a French philanthropist, humanitarian, and author, best known as the granddaughter of Pablo Picasso and for her stewardship of his legacy. Born in Cannes, France, Marina is the daughter of Paulo Picasso, Pablo’s only legitimate son. Her early life was marked by both privilege and personal struggle, experiences that shaped her later commitment to social causes and her thoughtful engagement with her grandfather’s estate.
After inheriting a significant portion of Pablo Picasso’s artworks, Marina took on the role of preserving and sharing his artistic heritage. She has curated exhibitions of his work, contributed to major museum shows, and made substantial donations of Picasso’s art to public institutions to ensure its accessibility to future generations.
Marina is also the author of Picasso: My Grandfather, a memoir offering an intimate, sometimes critical, portrait of the legendary artist and his family. Beyond the art world, she has dedicated herself to philanthropy, funding orphanages, hospitals, and humanitarian projects around the globe, particularly in Vietnam and other regions in need.
Through her stewardship of Pablo Picasso’s legacy and her philanthropic work, Marina Picasso continues to shape how the world engages with one of the most important artistic figures of the 20th century while making her own mark as a force for compassion and social justice.
