Pino Daeni, known simply as Pino, was an Italian-American artist celebrated for his romantic figurative paintings and masterful draftsmanship. Born Giuseppe Dangelico in Bari, Italy, Pino studied at the Art Institute of Bari and the Academy of Brera in Milan before establishing himself as a successful illustrator in Europe.
In 1979, Pino immigrated to the United States, where he became one of the most in-demand book cover illustrators of the 1980s and 1990s, creating iconic covers for romance novels published by Bantam, Harlequin, and others. Eventually, Pino transitioned from commercial illustration to fine art, producing emotionally charged paintings that captured intimate moments, graceful female figures, and family life with warmth and sensitivity.
Working in oils, Pino developed a signature style marked by lush brushstrokes, glowing color, and a keen sense of light and movement. His paintings are celebrated for their ability to convey both elegance and emotional depth, and they are held in prestigious private and public collections worldwide.
