Values and Philosophy
What We Value
At the Southern Nevada Art Museum, we come together to create a world where art ignites creativity and fosters connection, inspiration, and empowerment among individuals and communities. At the heart of our identity are five key traits:
- Creative
- Curious
- Dynamic
- Inclusive
- Respectful
These values guide how we engage with one another and with our community daily, motivating us to cultivate the best possible workplace.
Our Commitments to Our Communities
The Southern Nevada Art Museum is committed to opposing all forms of discrimination, violence, and hate while fostering inclusion, equity, and belonging. It aims to be a platform for creative expression and community well-being by showcasing and collaborating with artists from diverse and historically underrepresented backgrounds. The museum believes in the power of art to connect and uplift communities and is dedicated to being an anti-racist, inclusive institution where everyone feels welcome.
Commitment to Indigenous Communities:
Located on Indigenous homelands, the museum acknowledges past harms caused by the displacement and misrepresentation of Indigenous peoples. Moving forward, it pledges to:
- Build lasting, authentic relationships with Indigenous communities
- ter and support Indigenous voices and provide access to resources
- Listen actively and incorporate Indigenous perspectives to foster inclusivity and accessibility.
