Kelly “RISK” Graval (b. 1967) is an American contemporary artist, sculptor, and one of the pioneering figures of the West Coast graffiti movement. Internationally recognized for transforming graffiti from an underground subculture into a respected contemporary art form, RISK has spent more than three decades redefining the boundaries between street art, fine art, sculpture, and public installation. His vibrant, large-scale works celebrate the expressive power of color while exploring themes of transformation, energy, sustainability, and cultural identity.
Born in Louisiana and raised primarily in Los Angeles, California, Graval discovered graffiti during his teenage years, quickly becoming one of Southern California’s most influential graffiti writers. As one of the first Los Angeles artists to paint New York City subway cars and among the earliest artists to elevate graffiti onto freeway overpasses and freight trains, RISK helped establish the visual language of the West Coast graffiti movement.
